Underwater Scene in sugar by BrightlyWound455 Underwater Scene in sugar by BrightlyWound455
This is my sugar project for my Advanced Pastry class. It's made with a lot of techniques and types of sugar including: blown sugar, pulled sugar, bubble sugar, cast sugar, royal icing, isomalt and many others. o_o It took about 2 days consisting of 5 hour periods to put it together. Also many blisters and sugar cuts... This stuff gets HOT people!

Hi there. I've featured your work as an example of food art at its finest in an article over at #ArtHistoryProject. [link]

Thank you for such a wonderful contribution to culinary art! There is a relatively small selection of sugar art on dA, and even less that is decently photographed.

It's a shame I didn't have an actual camera at the time. This photo was taken in my classroom with a cell phone. These sculptures don't last long either. Thank you very much though for considering me. Also I loved your article!

How did you get the blue color in the sugar?

It's a very beautiful piece. I hope it got you good marks. :)

Thank you! The food coloring is added to the sugar during it's time on the stove. Some pieces were different batches melted together as well.
